Apply roofing cement to the roof. Drive the nails about 1 1 2 inches from the sides and just below the self sealing strip. This second row will go directly over the first row. Use a trowel to scoop up the roofing cement.

Spread a 2 inch wide strip of roofing cement with a roofing brush to the top edge of the already installed roofing. With a pneumatic nail gun the job goes a lot faster. Apply about two inches worth of cement under either side to seal the roofing down and then nail it down making sure it still stays flat and even as you go. However do not do this if a ridge vent system is being installed as well.
